Selmar was established in the late 70s among an  incipient development of the fishing industry, but is not until  the 80s when the company grew in the marine electronic field in Chile. This development brought much activity first to Talcahuano and subsequently to the north of Chile. The old-fashioned techniques of tubes made way for the new trend towards integrated circuits. The necessity for trouble-shooting acoustic equipments, navigation and communication bears fruit a new activity and as a result a company devoted to services called Selmar Ltda. In the mid 80s the need to incorporate new equipment into the marine area emerged in both, the north and the south which  also led the company to get the representation for the longest standing marine electronics company in the world, JRC.  In the early 90s Selmar plans carefully a new stage, maintaining its current activities and expanding the business not only to smaller vessels but also to merchant ships and shipyard of the Navy and individuals. Along with this change, our company develops consultancies and  installations of equipments abroad. Nowadays our organization is changing its sales and service strategies and it is also in constant search for high technology that joins our range of products,  always keeping the proportion between quality and price and  providing an excellent post-sale service. To achieve this, we have a highly qualified staff , trained to face each situation in the field and with a cutting-edge workshop. Today our company is Certified by ABS , GL , DNV , NKK , Lloy´s Register for GMDSS, VDR, AIS inspections for all types of vessels.
